Job Brief

We are seeking a detail-focused, knowledgeable, and professional mechanical Engineer to join our team! The ideal fit for the role will have a strong background in piping and should be adept with hygienic piping engineering processes and standards. Should also have knowledge of Static equipment, rotary equipment, exposure to industrial steel structure, and the key focus of the position is to provide onsite support across multiple sites in North America for the offshore engineering of industrial facilities, for e.g. Process Plants, skid-based systems, assembly shops, packaging facilities.

This position requires full-time, on-site attendance at Client's location with no remote work option.

Job Description:

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to plan, supervise and control Onsite engineering activities throughout all project phases beginning from Concept, Basic, and detail engineering Design to construction until handover to Client.
  • Key roles include providing onsite and on-field support to the offshore engineering teams in India for the development of engineering deliverables, perform technical review and compliance project checks on engineering deliverables.
  • Interprets piping and instrumentation diagrams, site layouts, equipment layouts, piping plan drawings, process flow diagrams, specifications, bills of materials, and GA drawings with respect to the scope of work.
  • Review the deliverables from the offshore team with respect to onsite conditions and provide mark-ups for updates, modifications, and revisions as necessary.
  • Contribute to project planning and scheduling.
  • Collaborate with the Client and their engineers and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, evaluate feasibility, and identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Participate in on site review meetings for the deliverables and during the periodic reviews.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to Client's contractors teams during the installation, resolving design-related issues as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to understand project requirements and address any concerns or questions.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, codes, and regulations related to structural engineering.
  • Self-driven to introduce new technology or proven design improvements and optimisations to contribute towards achieving Best-In-Class cost and schedule for projects assigned.
  • Adhere to Client's site policies, procedures, and safety regulations at all times, promoting a culture of compliance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering with 6-10 years of relevant working experience in piping engineering.
  • Experience in plant designs and layouts with broad knowledge of technical applications, maintenance, operation, and clearance constraints of structural, mechanical, controls, and electrical equipment systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software. Navisworks and AutoCAD experience is required. Experience in Plant 3D would be added advantage.
  • Conversant with ASME Codes and standards, knowledge ASME BPE, 3A standard, EHEDG is preferred. Exposure to OSHA is an added advantage.
  • Knowledgeable of codes typically applicable to plant engineering including, ASME, AISC, AWS, OSHA, building codes etc.
  • Strong knowledge of piping fabrication and installation processes, materials, and assembly techniques, with a focus on hygienic principles.
  • Should be hands-on in taking measurements using different measuring devices and convert them into clear sketches, drawings, or mark-ups.
  • Should be able to capture technical information of existing components, instruments etc.
  • Should communicate with local US Vendors and contractors to expedite works and or resolve technical issues/queries.
  • Familiar with International codes and standards applicable to various industries.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to translate conceptual ideas into practical sketches, markups.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates loyalty, honesty, and a strong sense of integrity.
  • Must be ready to travel across multiple sites in North America on project basis.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to outdoor environmental conditions to capture inputs, generate sketches, and prepare markups. The role requires the ability to exert a small amount of force on occasion, and negligible force frequently or continuously, to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Additional physical activities include walking, climbing stairs, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, speaking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include colour, depth perception and field of vision necessary to capture readings from instruments at different elevations, identify components in crowded areas at heights, prepare and analyse data and figures.
