Compensation and Schedule Overview

  • Touring Driver Pay: Starting at $1,800/week on tour, with potential earnings up to $2,500/week as responsibilities grow.
  • Regional Freight Compensation: Average $1,475/week (mileage-based) during off-tour periods.

Note: All new drivers will initially work within Averitt's regional division for the first 30 days (mileage-based pay). Once transfer approval is granted, you'll transition to touring assignments and receive salary-based pay.

  • Touring Driver Schedule:
    • Tour Season: March-October - Tours may last several weeks with limited home time unless routes are near your home base.
    • Off-Season: November-February - Drivers typically handle regional, no-touch freight for consistent income.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport staging, lighting, and production equipment for major live events.
  • Assist in loading/unloading and ensure equipment is securely fastened.
  • Navigate safely into tight or unconventional venues.
  • Primarily drive at night to meet strict delivery timelines.

Driver Highlights:

  • Prepare for overnight travel to meet event deadlines.
  • Commit to completing the entire tour or production run once assigned.
  • Routes span the U.S. and Canada (passport required; Averitt will reimburse if necessary).

CDL-A Touring Driver Requirements:

  • Must have at least 30 days of driving experience with Averitt before transitioning to Production and Event operations.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Hold a Class A CDL and be willing to obtain a Hazmat endorsement.
  • Flatbed certification is required (training provided).
  • Valid passport for Canada tours is necessary (Averitt will reimburse if needed).
  • At least 1 year of verifiable tractor-trailer experience in the last 3 years.
  • Previous entertainment/touring driving experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • No reckless driving convictions within the past 5 years.
  • No DUI or DWI convictions within the last 5 years.
  • No suspensions or revocations for moving violations in the last 5 years.
  • No serious violations within the past 12 months (like major traffic offenses in CMVs).
  • No more than 3 moving violations in the past 3 years.
  • No preventable DOT recordable accidents in the last 3 years.

Essential Functions:

  • Drive responsibly and prioritize safety.
  • Handle trailer doors (46 lbs force requirement).
  • Accurately count freight.
  • Complete fuel tickets correctly.
  • Hook/unhook trailer (90 lbs force requirement).
  • Conduct comprehensive pre-trip inspections.
  • Manage extensive travel, capable of sitting upright for prolonged periods.
  • Move freight as required (54 lbs force requirement).
  • Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
  • Safely enter/exit a Commercial Motor Vehicle.
  • Access the rear of a trailer from ground level.
