Assistant Chief Financial Officer (CFO in training) - Manufacturing Business

Job Description:

Graf Brothers Flooring, Inc. is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented accountant to join our growing manufacturing business as the Assistant to Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background with a focus on manufacturing, inventory costing, and financial management. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with and train under the current CFO and other senior leadership while overseeing critical accounting processes and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. Additionally, there is the potential to transition into the CFO role upon the current CFO's retirement, as well as the opportunity to grow and lead your own team.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Assist the Chief Financial Officer in overseeing daily accounting operations and processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Perform various monthly, quarterly, and annual filings required by governmental agencies, including but not limited to sales tax and depreciation calculations.
  • Reconcile and review financial accounts, analyzing variances and ensuring accuracy in financial data.
  • Prepare journal entries, manage month-end and year-end closing processes, and ensure timely completion of financial statements.
  • Maintain and analyze inventory costing and manufacturing-related financials, ensuring accurate cost allocation and reporting.
  • Identify and resolve inconsistencies in financial data, recognizing areas for improvement and providing recommendations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to manage and optimize accounting and financial processes and be a key resource in meeting deadlines and goals.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts and provide financial analysis to support decision-making.
  • Take on new and challenging assignments as needed to support the business's growth and evolving financial needs.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • CPA certification is a plus.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of public accounting experience or manufacturing/inventory costing experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks; experience with other accounting software is a plus.
  • Knowledge and practical experience with GAAP, monthly and annual financial statement closing processes, and journal entries.
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry, particularly in inventory costing and financial analysis.
